WHO WE ARE
The Students A.L.I.V.E staff consists of urban educators
that are accomplished classroom teachers, successful school
leaders, after school program directors and founders of
summer athletic and academic camps for students who
attend traditional public schools, charters and private
academies.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Every student can and must learn. Students absorb and
share information when their learning opportunities are
designed to partner with their individual strengths and to
support their unique areas of growth.
Our approach to teaching students is founded upon the
constructivist model where students actively construct new
knowledge as they interact with their environments. This
journey in learning dismisses the authoritarian model or
received knowledge as the most effective passage to new
authentic discovery. Students as workers value each other’s
thoughts and experiences from which to build and expand.
Students become the center focus not the teacher.
Teachers as coaches create relevant, student-centered,
project-based and experiential curriculum that include the
students’ experiences, culture and community. Academic
rigor and state standards are likewise inextricably tied to the
teaching and learning process.
The goal is to inspire a generation of young people to
creatively and critically think and act as they give back to
their local and global communities. Postsecondary degrees
and certifications are highly encouraged as a means to this
objective.
